There's nothing wrong with revising your goals! I've got mine at 150 pounds, because even though that may be a bit high for me, I want to just stop and re-assess. For one thing, with the issue that I am not young and my skin may not shrink down as much as I could wish, I may find I am happy there. Or I may want to simply work at gaining muscle as opposed to losing more weight. Or I may find that I still want to go further down. I just can't know until I am much, much closer to end goal than I am now. So my shorter range goal that I hope to nail this year is getting below the 200 pound mark. At which point I may take a little maintenance break for a month or so.

You are lucky if you can pack on muscle easily, that's only going to help! And yes, you may well be happy with your physique at a higher weight than you originally thought!

So, I decided to revise my weight loss goal as well. I know that I will eventually want to get smaller than the weight I changed it to but, I think setting my first main goal HIGHER will be beneficial to me. Plus, there's the fact that I pack on muscle faster than Ah-nold, so I may end up very happy w/my physique at a much higher weight than originally thought/desired. So, we'll see what happens. :)

(by the way, I hate the way this site makes your ampersands disappear...makes what you wrote seem all sorts of retarded. :( bah!)

Right, so I weighed myself this morning and have posted my gain...it sucks, but so far it's only spurring me on...I actually made something HEALTHY to eat today (and am quite proud of myself for doing so)...so, yeah...slowly but surely, all that weight will come right off again! ;) wish me luck!

ha! Actually, Richard, it's just that I haven't weighed myself in forever. I'm sure I've gained weight...will weigh myself tomorrow to see update accordingly. I plan on starting a fast on Sunday or Monday and will try to do it for 14 days. From that point, I will continue w/"clean" (i.e., nutrient dense/healthy) eating and see where it takes me. Need to get back on the exercise bandwagon. Things are looking up for me, so I think I'll be able to do it soon!! Thanks everyone for the encouraging words...means a lot to me. :)

I can see someone is kicking some major poundage -- you go girl!

Back on track girl!

If you haven't already, write down your goals and look at them daily. Keep thinking about the positives of eating healthy and how much better you feel. It's easy to slip back into old habits and probably always will be. The thing that I find helps is if you have a slip, just get up the next day and start plugging away at eating healthier. Exercise too.

Make a commitment to yourself... even if it's a day at a time or an hour at a time. There are plenty of times I don't want to exercise. But mostly, I just grit my teeth and get it done somehow anyway. And I feel better once I have!

You've come so far, don't stop now!

having very bad issues again w/feeling like an idiot, wanting to reach out, but feeling as though would be burdening others...so not very happy...having very bad day/week/month - today alone have consumed: 2 sm sesame seed buns w/whataburger ketchup (which is laced w/crack, i swear); 4 mini reese's cups, 4 cinnamon flavoured spice drops, and abt 1 c of "smoked cheddar" popcorn...oh, and a few sips of very flat Barq's...let's hope i don't gain too much from all this...

My thighs were apparently planning a revolt overnight, based upon the torture and torment that I put them through yesterday. Because today, they are barely functioning...talk about revenge! haha...weight went down a notch...I think I'm gaining muscle right now from the weight lifting I've been doing. Yes, I know, I haven't been logging it, but trust me...my arms and legs can attest to it! ;)

Well, my weight went up a bit, but I'm totally blaming that on my monthly bill coming in. :P Oh, and the fact that I've been snacking up a storm and haven't seriously exercised in over a week! Yeah, THAT had nothing to do w/it...ha! Anyway, finally got in a good workout today...plan on doing a lot of walking, too. I'm sure the weight will drop back off in a few days.

Great quote -- that explains everything! :)
Lilly K
19th Mar '08 18:22:43
best quote ever:

“All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.”

Hey Lilly, sorry about your loss -- I hope you're doing better now?

Channel the negatives in your life to get a positive -- which you did with your workout, great job! How did you feel afterwards? I bet you felt real good? I know I would have.

Stay strong and keep striving for that goal!

Lilly, I'm really sorry to hear about your cat. I can relate to sentiment over pets. You certainly are not a sentimental fool. I hope you feel better!

I just don't have it in me today. My poor little Tiger got killed last night. From the blood splatters in two random places, my assumption is that he was killed by a neighbourhood dog. He was such a sweet little kitty. He would always come to me if I called him (a rarity amongst cats). He'd let my 5 yr old carry him all around the house and generally manhandle him w/o complaint - not even a squirm! He'd never bitch (meow) at me if I didn't put his food dish down fast enough. He was my favourite, and I still can't think of him w/o crying. I know I'm just a sentimental fool, but I loved that little cat. He wasn't even 1 yr old yet! :( I did the best I could w/my workout, but I honestly don't have it in me...

Well, it's been just a little over 1 month now, and I'm down exactly 20 lbs. Yay!! I really need to fight sometimes to stick to the whole vegetarian thing, but I think it's definitely worth it.

One thing I'm REALLY super proud of is the fact that I've gone from barely being able to do 1 mile on my Leslie Sansone DVD to being able to finish the whole 3 mile workout! I went from barely doing 18 min of aerobics to doing 48 min!!! In just a few weeks! :D I just need motivation to keep going some days. Need to build up to working out every day, ya know?

Anyway, as they say...no gnu's is good gnu's ;) haha...

No problem Lilly! I'm glad that I could help. Moderation is the key to a successful healthy lifestyle. I find that if I'm too strict with myself, I wind up getting really frustrated and falling of the wagon completely, which is much much worse than allowing myself to eat a cookie or 2. :) Good job on not falling off the wagon!!
